FIFA fines Croatia over discriminatory remarks by supporters

 FIFA's disciplinary committee on Wednesday fined the Croatian Football Federation for incidents involving ethnic discrimination at the World Cup.

FIFA has fined Croatia ,5 50,580 after Croatian fans verbally abused Canadian goalkeeper Milan Borjan, who has a Serbian family.

FIFA described the actions of Croatian fans as "using words and objects to send inappropriate messages for sporting events".

Borjan of Canada was born in an area of Croatia where Serbs are a minority. His family and the Serbs left their homeland in 1995 due to the war, traveling by tractor.

During Canada's 4-1 defeat to Croatia at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, a banner read "Borjan is an Ustasha" referring to Croatia's World War II fascist movement that led to its independence. Of Croatia, or NDH, a state under Nazi Germany.
